Hello!
I'm looking for someone to help me finish and then possibly improve a
personal project, along with explanations so I can learn along the way. I'm
a software developer and have no real electronics background apart from
just playing with electronics since I was young. More details below.
It's a device that will be placed in a remote location, powered by a solar
panel, flooded 12v battery charge controller and communicating with
cellular data. The brain of this project is a Particle Electron (
https://docs.particle.io/tutorials/device-os/led/electron/)
My project's main features are:
- Take pictures with a camera (using TTL) and upload to the cloud
- Measure temperatures from outside (DS18B20) of the project box and inside
(LM35)
- Being able to monitor the 12v battery's voltage
My first thing to solve is that I'm having some problems with the camera
communication not working properly, I'm using a voltage regulator (L7805CV)
and a NPN Transistor (2N2222) in order to turn the camera on and off when
needed to save battery, the TTL communication is failing (if I don't use
the 2N2222 and use only the regulator, which wouldn't allow me to turn the
camera on and off, then it works). I would like to know how to fix the
problem.
Secondary to the above, I would be interested in knowing overall thoughts
and suggestions to improve the current design, as long as it's not an
entire rework, of course.
I'm happy to share the design files I have so far, Schematics and PCB.
This is a personal hobby project so I really don't have a big budget for
this. How much would your help cost? Would it be an hourly or flat fee?
Thanks for your time!
Ivan Salazar
