Hello!

I have no idea where to start with this project because it seems to involve
a multitude of different skills. I'd like to know if someone (or several
people) would be interested in this.

I'm a 36 year old woman living in Etobicoke. When I was 30, I had a stroke.
Now I have limited use of the right side of my body. Doctors said the
stroke was likely caused by a malformation of veins in my brain, but that
it was a mystery and that they couldn't find a definite cause for it. It
happened very suddenly and there were no warning signs. Luckily, I don't
have any mental disabilities from the stroke, but the physical ones can be
really frustrating.

I'm a level designer for a large video game studio. I need a computer
constantly for my work. I'm only using my left hand, so typing is really
slow. I have to stop typing to switch between the mouse and keyboard which
is extremely tedious. Since I'm only using one hand, I can't have it on
both at the same time. I saw a design by HTX Studio for a one-handed
keyboard with a track ball. The design was made open source, but the whole
thing's in Chinese...

I'm not exaggerating when I say that it would GREATLY improve my quality of
life! There isn't really anything like this available on the market. There
are one handed keyboards, but they're mostly gaming keyboards and only have
a few keys. It's a full keyboard which I need since I use a lot of shortcut
keys. It's also rare to find one with some sort of integrated mouse.

There's a video of it too:

I loved the pastel macaron coloured design. It's rare (unfortunately) that
something originally made to accommodate a special need is esthetically
pleasing.

My Instagram is @slowbrakate . I don't post very often anymore, but you can
put a face to my name. It's really hard for me to leave the house because
of my disability, so at least you can see me. I can also be reached there
if it's easier.

If it's possible to arrange something where I could hire someone to make
this I'd be interested! It's important for me to know the cost before
starting too.

Thank you for taking the time to read such a long e-mail! I hope this is
the right group to contact for something like this. It's a project that
involves 3D printing, progamming, sautering (mechanics?), maybe some
electrical, and I don't know what else. The multidisciplinary aspect of
Hack Lab made me think it might be a good fit.

Thanks again,
Katelyn Eathorne
